Frequently Asked Questions

You don’t need to “hit rock bottom” to seek support. People come to therapy when they feel:  Overwhelmed or stuck  Disconnected from themselves or others  Unsure how to cope  Tired of repeating old patterns  Ready for personal growth or change Sometimes the sign is as simple as: “I don’t want to feel this way anymore.”

Trauma is not just the “big” events we often hear about. It can also come from moments when you felt overwhelmed, unsafe, unseen, or unsupported. You might have trauma if you notice patterns like: • Feeling triggered or emotionally flooded • Being overly alert or shut down • Struggling with relationships or trust • Feeling disconnected from yourself • Reacting more strongly than a situation seems to require Trauma isn’t about what happened, it’s about how it lives in your mind and body today.

Not necessarily. While trauma can shape how we think, feel, and respond, it is not the only explanation. Human behavior is influenced by personality, environment, biology, stress, learning, and relationships. Therapy helps explore these layers with curiosity, not blame.

Yes. Trauma can be healed—at any age, and even after many years. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened; it means the memories no longer control your life, reactions, or relationships. Approaches like EMDR, IFS, somatic and trauma-informed therapies help the brain reprocess and release what has been stored as fear, shame, or pain.

You can have trauma even if you don’t remember the event. Sometimes experiences from early childhood, overwhelming moments, or memories the brain protected you from don’t stay in your awareness—but they can still shape how you feel and respond. You might notice the impact through unexplained fears, emotional triggers, relationship patterns, body sensations, or difficulty trusting and feeling safe. Therapy can help you gently understand what your mind and body have been holding, without needing every memory to come back.
